I think I’ve mentioned before that I want my first “real” bike to be an old UJM. This just popped up for sale, literally in my backyard, at an unbelievable price for something running and with a title, and I’m not currently in a position to buy. Yeah I have the cash on hand but that leaves me scrambling to pay rent next month.

That was my first (and only) motorcycle. (not an e,but a gs650)

Bought it for $200 Canadian, got it running and cleaned it up and sold it for a grand or so. Made me feel like a track star because I literally could not make a 90 degree turn without dragging the pegs on the ground. Also learned why you shouldn’t grab too much front brake whilst riding on wet grass, and why you shouldn’t ride on wet grass. Didn’t lay it down, but almost smoked the broad side of my garage keeping it up. I kept it up though.

The government probably won’t let you get evicted for nonpayment right now because covid. B uy the bike and hide it until you’re caught up on rent. :D

Facebook does this fucky thing where when you post from your phone it doesn’t give you all the categories to fill in, but then fills them in for you.

I put a lot of effort into my for sale ads, and I had a manual Saturn Ion accidentally listed as an automatic Scion.

I don’t know much about bikes and when I started shopping Facebook for them I was annoyed at how many were automatic. Then I realized what was happening and started looking for clutch levers

“Scrambling” was a bit dramatic. I’d just have to live off my credit card for a week or two. I’m just concerned that an opportunity like this will never happen again. Motorcycles rarely come up for sale on the island and when they do they’re usually $10k Boomer specials.

Also I seem to have project kleptomania what with two broken vehicles already and I’m gonna get strange looks from my family and housemates.

I only ask because I visited a couple years ago with my girlfriend, and I was kinda mad that my parents never took me there as a child despite having visited the island numerous times (I grew up in mainland Mass ).

Then I found out the farm had only been open for about ten years.

You may end up tuning carbs or a little electrical work or seals, but that is a screaming deal.  Old UJMs are not super rare around here, but in that kind of condition the asking price is about $900-2000.  Suzuki 650 is a good old bike.
